The summer is officially here! As every year, it\u2019s the perfect timing for the\u00a0Serpentine Pavilion which will be installed at its lawn outside the gallery.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Every\u00a0spring an international prestige architect is commissioned to build a new pavilion\u00a0that opens up to the public between June and September.<\/p>\n

2015 is the 15th\u00a0anniversary of the world-renowned Pavilion commission of the Serpentine Gallery.<\/p>\n

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition<\/h1>\n

For the 247th Summer Exhibition, this year\u2019s\u00a0coordinator, the British artist Michael Craig-Martin has put together a new colorful\u00a0layout for the world’s largest annual open-submission exhibition. This annual\u00a0exhibition has a famous history, having helped many artists towards successful\u00a0careers since it was established in 1769.<\/p>\n

Any artist is eligible to enter, no matter\u00a0whether they are well known or completely new to the art world.<\/p>\n

This Year, over\u00a01,200 works will be on display from different art disciplines.<\/p>\n

Carsten Holler; Decision at Southbank’s Hayward Gallery<\/h1>\n

if you remember for the\u00a0seventh commission in The Unilever Series, in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, Carsten H\u00f6ller\u00a0created Test Site, his most ambitious installment of his ongoing series of slide works which\u00a0started in 1998. In the coming show at the Hayward gallery, H\u00f6ller\u2019s interest in slides\u00a0ranges from their use as a practical and alternative means of transportation and the effect of\u00a0sliding itself, which involves a loss of control. Featuring sculptures, videos, installations\u00a0and light works, Holler’s aim is to create a situation in which visitors have to re-orientate their perception of time and space. Always generating and involving, the\u00a0pieces place visitors in a series of experimental environments.<\/p>\n

Highlights of the show\u00a0include slides that stretch from the glass pyramid ceiling to the gallery entrance, two\u00a0robotic beds that constantly mirror each other’s movements and two Flying\u00a0Machines that allow visitors to take off and ‘fly’ over Waterloo Bridge.<\/p>\n

Duane Hanson at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery<\/h1>\n

The Serpentine Gallery presents\u00a0the work of late American sculptor Duane Hanson. This is Hanson\u2019s first show in\u00a0London since 1997. Throughout his forty-year career, Duane Hanson (1925\u20131996)<\/p>\n

has made lifelike sculptures portraying working-class Americans. He was belonging\u00a0to the Pop Art movement; his sculptures transform the banalities of everyday life\u00a0into iconographic material.<\/p>\n

Shoes: Pleasure and Pain at the V&A<\/h1>\n

It’s All About the Shoes: Hope, Heartbreak\u00a0and the Search for the Perfect Pair! This exhibition will look at the different types of\u00a0footwear from around the globe, presenting around 200 pairs of shoes ranging from\u00a0a sandal decorated in pure gold leaf originating from ancient Egypt to the most\u00a0modern designs by contemporary makers. It will examine the latest developments in\u00a0footwear technology creating the possibility of ever higher heels and dramatic\u00a0shapes. Examples from famous shoe wearers and collectors will be shown alongside\u00a0a unique range of historic shoes, many of which have not been displayed before.<\/p>\n
