{"id":509,"date":"2016-07-01T20:47:59","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T20:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/askalocal.london\/GB\/?p=509"},"modified":"2016-07-22T16:50:08","modified_gmt":"2016-07-22T16:50:08","slug":"elizabeth-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/askalocal.london\/GB\/elizabeth-line\/","title":{"rendered":"Elizabeth Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>London is currently undergoing one of the largest construction projects in Europe, building a new underground line, which up until recently was called Crossrail.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 February 2016, that new line was officially named Elizabeth Line in honour of the Queen, Queen Elizabeth II. It was named as part of a royal visit by the Queen to one of the new stations next to the existing Bond Street Station that currently operates on both the Jubilee Line (named\u00a0to mark 25 years since the Queen&#8217;s accession to the throne) and Central Lines. The new Elizabeth Line will be purple in colour, and in keeping with each of London Underground lines having a unique colour.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-510 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/askalocal.london\/GB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/\u05e7\u05d5-\u05d0\u05dc\u05d9\u05d6\u05d1\u05ea.jpg\" alt=\"ElizabethLine\" width=\"640\" height=\"622\" srcset=\"https:\/\/askalocal.london\/GB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/\u05e7\u05d5-\u05d0\u05dc\u05d9\u05d6\u05d1\u05ea.jpg 640w, https:\/\/askalocal.london\/GB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/\u05e7\u05d5-\u05d0\u05dc\u05d9\u05d6\u05d1\u05ea-300x292.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cost of this new tube line is estimated at \u00a315bn, the line will serve Heathrow Airport, allowing for quicker journey times from the airport to central london, as well as expanding rail links to both the east and west of London.
