In London it is now (22nd of May 2020) not mandatory to wear face masks, but recommended where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (like on the bus/tube or inside a shop).
The Mayor Sadiq Kahn said lately that he is considering making face masks mandatory on London TFL.
You can see a lot of people on the streets wearing face masks, as some shops require them.
Face mask can help slow the spread of COVID-19, even simple cloth mask can help.
Different kinds of face masks
Filter/N95 mask – A protective face mask with a filter, we don’t recommend to buy N95 masks, as those are needed for NHS and other health care workers.
Disposable mask – May be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, but you are not intended to be using it more than once.
Cloth face mask – A mask that is made from multiple layers of fabric is our preferred option. You can make one yourself, buy a nice one or use a bandana to make it in 2 minuets.
You can wash it and use it many times.
Face Shield Visor Protection Film – This is not a face mask, It is just a plastic around the face that can give you another kind of protection.
