Witness for the Prosecution, The play

Who doesn’t love a good courtroom drama!
The story is about Leonard Vole who is accused of murder; if found guilty he will be hanged.
The venue was used brilliantly, what can I say, “location, location, location”! The structure of the building set the atmosphere and ‘took us in’ from the moment you walked up the stairs at the entrance.

The first scene did a really good job of showing us what was at stake and reminded us of the days when people came to watch executions as we all sat there, also reflecting the long journey the system has made.

The actors were fully aware of the structure of the stage and made sure the audience didn’t miss a moment. A very funny play; each actor had great comic timing. I really enjoyed watching Myers, played by Justin Avoth, and Janet Mackenzie, played by Lucy Tregear, excellent characters!

In general the play gives a lot of food for thought and is very relevant today.
I recommend going to see it as it’s currently running until October 2023.

See you all in court!

London County Hall, London, The Venue

Construction of London’s County Hall began before the First World War in 1911.
However, County Hall was officially opened by King George V and Queen Mary in July 1922.
In 2017, the main part of the historic building became a theatre.
This is a very impressive building, where as an audience you sit in the same seats that were used for local government, very comfortable!
