London is starting to recover and celebrate Christmas with returning shows and new ones.
Some of the musicals and plays in London are already back in December, while maintaining social distance.

During December and early January, there are also special performances for the Christmas period.

Theatres return to London in December

The musical Six

“Six” is a musical that is actually a “historical pop talent show” telling the story of Henry the VIII’s six wives.
Definitely something else, interesting, fun, young, short (an hour and a quarter), and exciting.
“Six” already performs in a larger hall (Lyric Theatre), to maintain social distancing and it will return to it’s original theatre (Arts Theatre) starting April 20th.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

“Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is a musical that we especially loved.
– Not running right now in London.

The Great Gatsby – Immersive London

“The Great Gatsby” is a show that is also a party.
The story takes place in the 1920s during the Great Depression.
This is definitely not a routine theatrical performance, but the kind of experience we really enjoyed.
Restricted to ages 14 and up.

The play that goes wrong

“The play that goes wrong” is a foolishly funny show …

Special performances for Christmas and New Year’s season

December in London is well known for its special performances for the holidays.
This year the number of performances is relatively low, but it is still a lot comparing to what we had in London in recent months.

The Comeback

“The Comeback” is a new and original comedy that is expected to be very British and wild.
Not running now.

Love Letters

“Love Letters” is a tragic-comedy drama with a story that lasted over half a century.
A 1998 New York play that won awards.
Not running now.

Ballet – The Nutcracker Delights

“The Nutcracker” is a Christmas London tradition for the whole family.
The English National Ballet performs a version of the Nutcracker every year since 1950 … even on Christmas 2020.
The performance will take place in the Colosseum Hall.

Panto shows

Panto, or in its long name pantomime, is a musical comedy performance for the whole family during the Christmas period.

Panto is usually based on a classic story, presented in a silly and funny way with the audience expected to be involved.

Potted Panto

“Potted Panto” is a children’s show that tells 7 classic stories in 70 minutes.

Death Drop – Panto for adults

“Death Drop” is an attempt to take the concept of children’s shows and turn them into an adult-only drag show.

Christmas-themed performances

A Christmas Carol

“A Christmas Carol” is a beloved classic musical that returns every year at Christmas, this year with the comedian Brian Conley.

Bill Bailey: Christmas Larks!
