Moulin Rouge! The Musical
The musical Moulin Rouge is coming to London after a hugely successful run on Broadway, where it won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Direction and Best Choreography, and we could not agree more with the Academy’s decision.
The musical Moulin Rouge finally opened in London at the end of 2021 after several delays due to the coronavirus, and as you can imagine, it’s been well worth the wait.
The musical’s story and atmosphere
The show brings the legendary film to life on stage in a new musical-theatrical celebration.
Moulin Rouge is based on Baz Luhrmann’s popular and award-winning 2001 film about the love story between a theatre star and a poor audience member in a world of dazzling glamour, glitter, grandeur and splendour.
The musical combines costumes, breathtaking sets, revelry and romance with outstanding acting and dancing.
Watching this musical makes you feel like you are part of the experience, or as they say in the trailer ‘YOU ARE the Moulin Rouge!
A little taste of the atmosphere in the musical:
Feeling the new trend
Incorporating modern songs and performing them in an interesting way as part of the story seems to be a current trend.
Excellent performances by the band and cast to new songs such as Lady Gaga’s ‘Bed Romance’, which were not part of the film but fit perfectly into the plot, really stood out.
Who is The Musical for?
Suitable for adults looking for an entertaining and spectacular show to remember.
Not suitable for children under 12 or those more comfortable with chastity (tzniut).
The plot is simple to follow and even if your English is not great, you can easily understand and enjoy it.
